Growing Style – Natural Habitats living wall is thriving

The living wall at Natural Habitats has taken on a life of its own. The 6m high external Green Wall was installed just over year ago.  Today the wall is thriving with lush native vegetation, and several plants look set to repeat last years flowering.

Built to New Zealand building codes, horticultural best practices and using green wall technology developed with our Australian colleague, Natural Habitats Green Wall is New Zealand’s first native Green Wall.

This verdant artwork is a logical addition to Natural Habitats collection landscaping services, and was designed to test the success of New Zealand natives in a wall environment. If the photos are anything to go by, the selection of natives has evidently been given the green light.

However the impact of the Green Wall is more than visual. An external Green Wall can have incredible environmental benefits, it promotes biodiversity, increases green amenity space, and regulates building temperatures. Green Walls also grow property values and have been proven to increase tenant retention.

A Green Wall can be incorporated into most new building designs and can even be installed on established walls. “It is very lightweight, well proven technology that absolutely knocks the viewer’s socks off” says Graham Cleary owner and managing director of Natural Habitats.  See it for yourself at Natural Habitats office 8 Sultan St, Ellerslie, Auckland, it will make you green with envy.
