Creating a Brief for your Designer or Architect
On this page you will find information about preparing a design brief and getting a feel for the potential of your landscape.
Before approaching a designer it is a good idea to have considered exactly what it is you wish to achieve. This gives both you and the designer a solid starting place to begin discussion and any subsequent working arrangement.
A simple design brief can be made by filling a scrap book with magazine clippings of garden style, plants and features you would like to see in your landscape. Make brief notes about what you do and do not like about the clippings. This will help you express your taste and style and assist the designer form a design brief.
A good rule for landscape projects is:
“one third planning, one third installation, one third maintenance”
